Spring Benefit and Silent Auction

On May 16, 2006, A More Perfect Union celebrated its 20th anniversary with a benefit and silent auction to honor the seven founding members of the organization. The event was held at Bliss Bar and Lounge on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. With more than 100 people in attendance, we raised just over $10,000 to support our program.

"This event was an opportunity not only to honor the founding members of A More Perfect Union, but to express our deep appreciation for our wonderful volunteers and donors," said Sarala Dee, President of A More Perfect Union. "Those who attended had a fun-filled evening and a chance to win some fabulous items in the silent auction."

Dee added that the monies raised will support ongoing programs for the women residents of Phoenix House in Brooklyn, The Veritas Therapeutic Community on the Upper West Side, Odyssey House in East Harlem, as well as any future program expansions.

All of the auctioned items, valued at a total of $18,000, were donated to A More Perfect Union. Based on the success of the first-ever spring benefit, we hope to make this a yearly event.
